The Building Blocks for a Lifetime of Loving Soccer
ASC Recreational program focuses on player development, growing a love for the game, and growing relationships with new and old friends.
Our Recreational Soccer Program welcomes both new and returning players in 1st through 12th grade. Designed for all skill levels, from beginners to experienced players, the program balances skill development, competitive play, and fun in a supportive team environment.
Training sessions are held twice per week at local schools and parks. Soccer is a team sport, and players are expected to attend and actively participate in all practices, as this is where core skills are developed. Games provide players with the opportunity to apply what they learn during training. In addition, players will continue to build their soccer skills and physical fitness under the guidance of professional trainers once per week.
1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, 5th/6th, and 7th/8th grade teams will compete in the Recreational Youth Soccer Development League (RYSDL) or the United Recreational Soccer League (URSL). RYSDL and URSL teams are organized into boys, girls, and co-ed divisions.
Home games are played at Deer Crossing Elementary School, LOUYAA Park, and Old National Pike Park. Away games are held at various locations throughout Frederick County, depending on the opposing team’s home field. Matches are typically scheduled on Saturdays, with occasional Sunday games.
High School teams will compete in the Friday Night Lights League, with games held on Friday evenings at Ballenger Creek Park on the turf fields.
All new players are required to purchase a uniform package.
(If you purchased an Under Armour uniform for Fall 2023, Spring 2024, Fall 2024, Spring 2025, or Fall 2025, a new uniform is not required for Spring 2026.)
REC SELECT SOCCER MISSION
Our mission is to provide well-structured recreational soccer programs that accommodate varying levels of play while aligning with each player’s individual abilities, potential, and interests. We are committed to fostering a positive and inclusive youth sports culture that supports development, enjoyment, and respect for the game.
REC SELECT SOCCER VISION
We believe a high-quality soccer experience is built on positive coaching principles. Our vision is to ensure that every athlete enjoys playing the game, feels valued as a team member regardless of performance, learns sportsmanship both on and off the field, and develops technical skills, tactical understanding, and overall knowledge of the game while continuing to grow and improve as a player and teammate.
Volunteer Coaches & Parents
Volunteer coaches and assistant coaches remain on the sidelines with their team during games. Parents and spectators are asked to sit on the opposite sideline and are expected to be positive, supportive influences during both games and practices. This structure helps create a respectful environment that allows players to focus, learn, and enjoy the game.

RECREATIONAL YOUTH SOCCER DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE is committed to:
Providing an affordable, developmental, and community-focused soccer experience for “true rec” teams, the league is built on the belief that every player deserves a place to play, grow, and enjoy the game in a positive environment. RYSDL is proud to offer an inclusive league—welcoming to all skill levels and backgrounds—where players are supported through fun, encouragement, and learning. Their focus is aspirational, emphasizing development over competition, and guided by the belief that character is just as important as skill. With a commitment to 100% referee coverage by professional, MSYSA-sanctioned officials, we ensure a safe and fair playing experience.
"Where Every Player Rises."
"Developing Skills. Building Character."

SMALL-SIDED GAMES CHART
Small-sided standards are youth games played with less than 11 players on each team. Playing with less players on the field means that players are constantly involved in play and provided with more opportunities for touches on the ball and overall player development. Not only are there fewer players, but small-sided games also use smaller fields, goals and balls, shorter game times and some different rules to optimize the game for younger players.
